About Norwegian Jade

Norwegian Jade started life in 2006 as Pride of Hawaii for Norwegian’s US-flagged Hawaii service and was renamed in 2008 when it moved to international routes. A Jewel-class ship, it has a mid-size layout and a long list of restaurants for a ship of its size. A 2017 refurbishment refreshed its interiors and public spaces. Jade has sailed widely, from the Greek Isles to the Caribbean and Asia, and it tends to appear on port-intensive itineraries. Onboard activities are traditional: pools, shows, a casino and plenty of bars.

Best for: Port-focused travelers who want Norwegian’s relaxed, no-dress-code style on a mid-size ship.

Sailing with Norwegian

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) built its identity on Freestyle Cruising: no fixed dinner times, no formal nights and a long list of restaurants you choose from each evening. Its big, modern ships add go-kart tracks, Broadway-style shows and The Haven, a private suite enclave. It suits independent-minded couples, groups and families who like flexibility, less so budget purists who dislike add-on charges.
