About Norwegian Spirit
Norwegian Spirit was built in 1998 as SuperStar Leo for Star Cruises in Asia and joined Norwegian in 2004. In 2020 it went through one of the most extensive refurbishments in the line’s history, which refreshed every cabin and added newer bars and restaurants. It remains a smaller, older ship with a traditional layout, and it’s often deployed on long, port-intensive itineraries far from the usual Caribbean routes. Think of it as a comfortable base for exploring rather than a destination in itself.
Best for: Experienced travelers who want Norwegian’s relaxed style on long, port-packed voyages.

Sailing with Norwegian
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) built its identity on Freestyle Cruising: no fixed dinner times, no formal nights and a long list of restaurants you choose from each evening. Its big, modern ships add go-kart tracks, Broadway-style shows and The Haven, a private suite enclave. It suits independent-minded couples, groups and families who like flexibility, less so budget purists who dislike add-on charges.
