About Norwegian Jewel
Norwegian Jewel launched the Jewel class in 2005, a group of mid-size ships built for Norwegian’s Freestyle Cruising, with many dining choices and no fixed dinner times. Its top suites include the Garden Villas, large multi-room suites with private gardens and hot tubs. Jewel has spent summers in Alaska and sailed many other regions over the years, and its size lets it reach ports the big ships can’t. Refits have refreshed its décor, but you won’t find go-karts or big water parks, so it’s best for travelers who value itineraries over attractions.
Best for: Travelers who want flexible dining on a mid-size ship and care most about the ports.

Sailing with Norwegian
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) built its identity on Freestyle Cruising: no fixed dinner times, no formal nights and a long list of restaurants you choose from each evening. Its big, modern ships add go-kart tracks, Broadway-style shows and The Haven, a private suite enclave. It suits independent-minded couples, groups and families who like flexibility, less so budget purists who dislike add-on charges.
