About Arcadia
Arcadia began life on the drawing board as a Cunard ship before being redesigned for P&O Cruises, entering service in 2005 as an adults-only ship for British travelers who prefer a calmer, more traditional cruise. She shares her basic design with Holland America’s Vista-class ships, so she is mid-sized, easy to find your way around and full of quiet corners. Her art collection, focused on contemporary British artists, is one of the most extensive at sea. Arcadia is best known for long voyages, including world cruises, and for a grown-up atmosphere built around afternoon tea, Black Tie evenings and sea views from the Crow’s Nest.
Best for: British adults who want a quieter, traditional ship for long voyages or a world cruise.
Arcadia highlights
- Adults-only atmosphere with no kids clubs or family crowds
- World cruises and other long voyages from Southampton
- A large collection of contemporary British art
- Sindhu, a contemporary Indian restaurant
- Crow’s Nest bar at the front of the ship
How Arcadia compares in size
Sailing with P&O Cruises
P&O Cruises is Britain’s best-known cruise line, designed for UK holidaymakers: prices in pounds sterling, British food, pubs, comedians and mostly round-trip sailings from Southampton. It runs big family-friendly ships alongside two adults-only ships, and gratuities are included in the fare. North Americans are welcome, but the line is built around British tastes, school holidays and sailing schedules.
