About Carnival Luminosa
Carnival Luminosa started out as Costa Luminosa in 2009 and joined Carnival in 2022, keeping much of its Italian-built, glass-and-light décor. It is a close cousin of the Spirit class but larger, with more public space and a slightly more grown-up feel than most Carnival ships. Carnival added favorites like Guy’s Burger Joint and the BlueIguana Cantina after the transfer. Luminosa has sailed from both Australia and North America, including Alaska seasons, so its itineraries tend to be longer and more scenic than typical Caribbean runs.
Best for: Cruisers who like Carnival’s casual style but want a more elegant ship and longer itineraries.

It sails from more US ports than almost any other line, which makes short Caribbean, Bahamas and Mexico getaways easy to reach. It suits families, groups and value seekers, less so travelers wanting quiet elegance or fine dining.
