About Carnival Splendor

Carnival Splendor, from 2008, is a one-off in the fleet, built on a design shared with ships from Carnival’s sister brand Costa. It brought one of the largest spas in the fleet, Cloud 9 Spa, spread across two decks with a thermal suite, and Carnival later added Fun Ship 2.0 venues such as Guy’s Burger Joint and the BlueIguana Cantina. Splendor has spent recent years based in Australia, sailing to the South Pacific, New Zealand and Queensland. North American travelers are most likely to meet it on a fly-away trip down under.

Best for: Travelers combining an Australia vacation with a fun, casual cruise to the South Pacific or New Zealand.

Sailing with Carnival

Carnival Cruise Line is America’s budget-friendly “Fun Ship” brand: casual, sociable and packed with free food, comedy and pool-deck parties. It sails from more US ports than almost any other line, which makes short Caribbean, Bahamas and Mexico getaways easy to reach. It suits families, groups and value seekers, less so travelers wanting quiet elegance or fine dining.
