About Legend of the Seas

Legend of the Seas is the third Icon-class ship, arriving in 2026, and the first one Royal Caribbean scheduled for a debut season in the Mediterranean before Caribbean sailings from Fort Lauderdale. It shares the class layout that made Icon a hit: Thrill Island with the Category 6 water park and Crown’s Edge, Chill Island’s stacked pools, the family zone called Surfside and the AquaDome at the bow. The name was used before on a much smaller 1995 ship, so don’t mix up older reviews with this one. On European itineraries, expect more port days and less time to enjoy the attractions than on a Caribbean week.

Best for: Families who want a mega-ship with water slides and big shows, and Icon fans who prefer a Fort Lauderdale departure or a Mediterranean debut.

Legend of the Seas highlights

  • Category 6 water park and Crown’s Edge on Thrill Island
  • AquaDome with AquaTheater performances under a glass dome
  • Surfside, a dedicated area for families with young kids
  • The Hideaway, an adults-only retreat with a suspended infinity pool
  • Chill Island’s multiple pools, including the adults-only Cloud 17

Sailing with Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean is the big-ship, high-activity line: surf simulators, water slides, ice rinks and Broadway shows on some of the largest cruise ships ever built. It suits families, groups and active couples who want a floating resort and a private-island beach day, and it’s less suited to anyone who wants quiet, small ships or an all-inclusive fare.
