About Spectrum of the Seas

Spectrum of the Seas, delivered in 2019, was the first Quantum Ultra ship, an updated version of the Quantum design built with Asian travelers in mind. It has spent its career based in Asia, so North Americans usually meet it on a fly-away cruise from hubs such as Singapore or Hong Kong. Dining and entertainment lean toward regional tastes, with Western favorites alongside. The core Quantum features are all here: the North Star observation capsule, RipCord by iFLY, SeaPlex and the glass-walled Two70 lounge at the stern. If you want a big, modern Royal Caribbean ship for an East or Southeast Asia trip, it’s the obvious choice.

Best for: Travelers combining a trip to Asia with a short cruise on a big, feature-packed ship.

Spectrum of the Seas highlights

  • North Star observation capsule for aerial views of ports like Singapore
  • RipCord by iFLY skydiving simulator
  • SeaPlex, an indoor space for bumper cars, roller skating and sports
  • Two70, a lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows and robotic video screens
  • Splashaway Bay water play area for kids

Sailing with Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean is the big-ship, high-activity line: surf simulators, water slides, ice rinks and Broadway shows on some of the largest cruise ships ever built. It suits families, groups and active couples who want a floating resort and a private-island beach day, and it’s less suited to anyone who wants quiet, small ships or an all-inclusive fare.
