About Star of the Seas

Star of the Seas is the second Icon-class ship, delivered in 2025, and the first of the class based at Port Canaveral, about an hour from Orlando’s theme parks. It copies Icon of the Seas almost feature for feature: the same eight neighborhoods, the same Category 6 water park, the glass-roofed AquaDome and the multi-level Ultimate Family Townhouse at the top of the suite range. That makes it an easy pick for Southeast families who want the Icon experience from a drive-to port. Like its sister, it burns LNG as its main fuel and is set up for seven-night Caribbean sailings that usually include Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Best for: Families from the Southeast and Orlando vacationers who want Icon-class thrills on a week-long Caribbean trip from Port Canaveral.

Star of the Seas highlights

  • Category 6 water park, including Pressure Drop, an open freefall slide
  • Chill Island’s tiered pool decks with the Swim & Tonic swim-up bar
  • Surfside, a family neighborhood with a splash zone, carousel and casual eateries
  • The Ultimate Family Townhouse, a three-level suite with its own slide
  • Absolute Zero, the ice arena used for skating shows

Sailing with Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean is the big-ship, high-activity line: surf simulators, water slides, ice rinks and Broadway shows on some of the largest cruise ships ever built. It suits families, groups and active couples who want a floating resort and a private-island beach day, and it’s less suited to anyone who wants quiet, small ships or an all-inclusive fare.
